The Senegalese government sells fishing rights to the EU but fails to compensate the local fishermen for the decline in catches of fish.
The price of imported rice makes it hardly worth while planting rice in the country.
The local technology means that the seasonal onions grown in the country cannot be sold at a good price, but imported onions from western countries that can be stored for all year round consumption, and puts the farmers out of business.
