Apple Quinoa Breakfast

Country of origin: Peru

A warm, fruity, slightly sweet, nutritious substitute for porridge.

Ingredients

75 gm FAIRTRADE quinoa
200 ml FAIRTRADE orange juice
50 gm FAIRTRADE sultanas
10 ml FAIRTRADE honey
1 FAIRTRADE apple
5 ml FAIRTRADE ground cinnamon

Honey
Quinoa

Method

Preparation
Rinse the quinoa in plenty of cold water and drain well.
Cooking
Toast the drained quinoa for a few minutes in a non-stick pan until they start to go a little toasty.
Then put the quinoa into a saucepan with the orange juice, sultanas, and cinnamon.
Bring to the boil and then simmer gently until the seed germ of the quinoa starts to separate (about 20 minutes).
Meanwhile wash and finely chop the apple.
Assembly
Add the apple to the cooked quinoa and turn out into a bowl.

To serve

Voila: breakfast.

Variations

Exotic FAIRTRADE dried fruit (Mango, Pineapple) can be substituted for the sultanas.
Exotic FAIRTRADE fresh fruit (Mago, Pineapple, Banana) can be substituted for the apple.
FAIRTRADE tropical juice can be substituted for the orange juice. If you run out of honey substitute 10 ml of FAIRTRADE sugar.
